DGIP Introduces Modern Pakistani Passports
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has officially rolled out the redesigned Pakistani passport, featuring enhanced security features and vibrant cultural imagery. The new Pakistani passports are part of a broader initiative to prevent forgery, misuse, and identity theft, while showcasing the nation’s heritage.
Enhanced Security and Design Features
According to DGIP officials, while the format of the Pakistani passport remains unchanged, several modern security upgrades have been added. These improvements aim to align Pakistan’s travel document with global standards of passport security.
One of the major updates includes the addition of the mother’s name alongside the father’s, promoting inclusivity and transparency in identity documentation.
The visa pages of the new passport now display pictures of historic landmarks and cultural sites from across Pakistan’s provinces. This feature highlights the country’s cultural diversity and rich heritage, turning each passport into a symbol of national pride.
Modernity, Harmony, and Implementation
Officials explained that the new design embodies “modernity and harmonisation,” reflecting a balance between technology, culture, and functionality. The Ministry of Interior has approved the design, and printing of the new passport booklets is already underway.
The DGIP’s redesigned Pakistani passport represents a significant step toward secure, modern, and culturally enriched identification for citizens.
