In a heartbreaking incident, Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has died by suicide in the federal capital.
The tragedy occurred in the Aabpara Police Station area. According to officials, SP Akbar used a pistol to end his life. He was rushed to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Investigators said the officer had borrowed the weapon from police personnel before the incident. The exact reason behind his decision remains unclear, and a formal inquiry is now underway.

SP Adeel Akbar was highly respected across the police force for his professionalism, humility, and dedication to public service. His sudden death has left the ICT Police and law enforcement community across Pakistan in deep grief.
He earned an MPhil in Governance and Public Policy from the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad. Over the years, he served in several districts of Balochistan, gaining experience in security management, community policing, counterterrorism, human rights protection, and crisis response.
