Growing up in an environment where qawwali was not just a form of artistic expression but also a cherished tradition, we were immersed in its melodies from an early age. Our family, recognizing our innate talents and deep connection to music, provided unwavering support throughout our musical journey. They nurtured our interests, encouraged us to explore
various instruments and vocal styles, and stood by us as we pursued our dreams. Their encouragement and belief in our abilities have been pivotal in shaping us into the artists we are today.

The allure of music’s transformative power inspired us to embrace it as a career. Can you tell us about your musical influences and how they have shaped your sound?
Our musical journey has been profoundly shaped by a diverse range of influences that have left an indelible mark on our artistic direction. One of the most significant inspirations in our lives has been the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
His unmatched talent, innovation, and dedication to qawwali not only captivated audiences worldwide but
also elevated the genre to new heights. It’s an honor to carry forward his legacy, and his ingenious approach to music continues to influence our compositions and performances. Furthermore, our connection to Haji Rehmat Ali Khan, our grandfather and a harmonium virtuoso who accompanied Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan throughout his career, holds immense sentimental value. His mastery of the harmonium and his collaborations with Ustad
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan have instilled in us a deep appreciation for the intricacies of musical harmony. The stories he shared, the experiences he had, and the wisdom he imparted have been instrumental in shaping our understanding of qawwali and its nuances.
Overall, the amalgamation of these influences—ranging from the mastery of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to the personal connection with Haji Rehmat Ali Khan—has been pivotal in shaping our musical identity. It compels us to strive for innovation while staying rooted in the rich traditions that have defined qawwali for generations.
What is your creative process like when writing and composing songs together?
Our creative process is a harmonious fusion of individual strengths. We start with brainstorming themes, aligning our visions. Zain shapes melodies and emotions through vocals, while Zohaib crafts intricate musical arrangements. Continuous idea exchange and experimentation refine our compositions, reflecting our combined musical essence of authenticity and innovation.
How do you balance your individual strengths and styles within the duo?
Our balance is an art of combining strengths. Zain’s evocative vocals meld with Zohaib’s innovative arrangements. We embrace feedback, fostering collaboration that amplifies our styles. Our goal isn’t dominance, but harmony – where two voices unite to create something uniquely captivating.
Can you share any memorable experiences or challenges you’ve faced as a duo so far?
Our journey has been a mix of wonderful memories and tough challenges. We started with almost no money, playing small gigs, and dealing with the complexities of the music industry. These struggles have made us stronger, more determined, and have turned us into artists who value not only the spotlight but also the effort it takes to get there.
What are your goals and aspirations for the future of your music career?
Our future holds aspirations that mirror our musical essence. We aim to continue weaving evocative narratives through our compositions, inspiring diverse audiences. Ultimately, our goal is to leave an indelible mark on the world of music, enriching lives and
carrying forward the legacy of qawwali.

Our connection with fans is integral to our journey. Social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook allow us to share glimpses of our lives and behind-the scenes moments. We regularly interact through live sessions, Q&A sessions, and fan-driven challenges, which foster a sense of community. Concerts and meet-and-greets provide personal encounters, solidifying the bond.
Acknowledging fan art, messages, and contributions showcases our appreciation for their support. Ultimately, it’s this mutual exchange that fuels our creative spirit and keeps our journey alive.
