Human smugglers in Gujranwala executed a bold new scheme. They disguised 22 migrants as a professional football team. Their goal was to fly the group to Japan. The operation was highly elaborate. It involved forged documents and a fake football club. Japanese authorities eventually deported the entire group.
The Mastermind: Malik Waqas and His Fake Football Club
The ringleader was identified as Malik Waqas. He created an elaborate façade for the operation. Waqas invented a fake football club named “Golden Football Trial.” This fake club was the central part of the smuggling plot. It was designed to look like a legitimate sports team traveling for a tournament.
The Elaborate Forged Documentation
The scheme required sophisticated forgeries. Malik Waqas forged documents from the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). He also created fake documents from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry. These forged papers gave the fake team an appearance of legitimacy. The documents were meant to convince immigration officials.
High Cost for a Fake Jersey: Rs. 4 Million Per Person
The scheme was expensive for the migrants. Malik Waqas charged a huge fee for his service. He demanded Rs. 4 million per person for the fake football team package. This high cost shows the audacity and scale of the sm*ggling operation.
A Repeat Offense: Second Successful Attempt
Shockingly, this was not his first attempt. This was Malik Waqas’s second successful attempt using this exact method. He had previously sm*ggled a group to Japan disguised as football players. This repeat offense highlights a concerning pattern.
The Outcome: Deportation and Arrest
The scheme ultimately failed. Japanese authorities discovered the deception upon arrival. The entire group of 22 migrants is facing deportation back to Pakistan. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took action. Ringleader Malik Waqas is now in FIA custody. He faces serious charges for his role in the sm*ggling ring.
