SD: Transitioning from acting in popular serials like Radd and Meri Guriya to becoming a commercial pilot is quite a leap. What inspired this significant career change?
Ammara: I’ve always been passionate about flying and exploring new horizons. After a fulfilling acting career, I felt an inner urge to challenge myself and pursue a field that requires precision, focus, and adventure. Aviation offers a unique combination of technical skill and thrill, which drew me in. I’m grateful for the transferable skills from acting, such as discipline, adaptability, and quick thinking, which have helped me navigate this new career.
SD: How has your background in acting helped or hindered your new role as a commercial pilot? Are there skills from acting that you find particularly useful in aviation?
Ammara: My acting experience has surprisingly helped me in aviation. As a pilot, I need to remain calm under pressure, think on my feet, and communicate effectively with passengers and crew. Acting taught me how to manage stress, project confidence, and articulate complex information clearly. However, I’ve had to unlearn some habits, such as relying on intuition, and focus on precise technical procedures.
SD: As a woman pursuing a career in aviation in Pakistan, what challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
Ammara: I faced skepticism and self-doubt initially, but my family and mentors encouraged me to persevere. Joining aviation programs and networking with my instructors helped me overcome obstacles. Pakistan’s aviation industry is evolving, and organizations like Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) are actively promoting diversity. I’m proud to be part of this positive change.
SD: What was the most rewarding aspect of your training to become a commercial pilot, and how did you stay motivated throughout the process?![](https://socialdiary.pk/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Ammara-Saeed-14.jpg)
Ammara: The most rewarding part was overcoming the initial intimidation factor and mastering complex flight maneuvers. Staying motivated came from celebrating small victories, setting achievable goals, and visualizing my future as a commercial pilot. My instructors and peers were incredibly supportive, making the journey both enjoyable and challenging.
SD: Can you share any memorable experiences or standout moments from your time flying so far? How do they compare to your experiences on set?![](https://socialdiary.pk/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Ammara-Saeed-8.jpg)
Ammara: One standout moment was my first solo flight—the thrill of being alone in the cockpit, responsible for the aircraft, was exhilarating! Compared to acting, flying offers a different rush of adrenaline. On set, I’d prepare for a scene; in the cockpit, I prepare for takeoff. Both require focus, but flying demands a unique blend of technical skill and situational awareness.
SD: How do you balance your responsibilities as a pilot with your previous career in acting? Are you involved in any acting projects while pursuing aviation?![](https://socialdiary.pk/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Ammara-Saeed-17.jpg)
Ammara: I’m currently focused on establishing myself as a commercial pilot. While I’m not actively pursuing acting projects, I don’t rule out future collaborations. Aviation is my priority, but I’m grateful for the creative outlet that acting provided.
SD: In recent years, there’s been a noticeable increase in women joining the Air Force and aviation sectors in Pakistan. What do you think has driven this positive change?![](https://socialdiary.pk/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Ammara-Saeed-4.jpg)
Ammara: I believe in growing awareness of women’s empowerment, education, and career opportunities has driven this positive change. Organizations like the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and aviation schools are actively encouraging women to join.
SD: What message do you have for young women in Pakistan who aspire to break into traditionally male-dominated fields like aviation?
Ammara: Believe in yourself, pursue your passions relentlessly, and don’t be afraid to take calculated risks. Surround yourself with supportive people, seek mentors, and stay focused. Remember, every small step counts, and your success will inspire others to follow in your footsteps.
SD: Looking back on your acting career and your current role as a pilot, what advice would you give to others considering a major career shift?![](https://socialdiary.pk/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Ammara-Saeed-16.jpg)
Ammara: Identify your transferable skills and leverage them. Be prepared for a steep learning curve, but don’t be discouraged. Network, seek guidance, and stay adaptable. Most importantly, listen to your inner voice and pursue a career that aligns with your values and passions.
