Yasir Hussain Wants Item Songs Taxed – Not Banned?
Actor, writer, and director Yasir Hussain is no stranger to controversy. Known for his unapologetic honesty, Yasir recently stirred debate again by questioning Pakistan’s approach to entertainment under its Islamic state identity. In a recent interview , Yasir Hussain’s statement regarding Pakistan’s Islamic state status drew both praise and backlash.
His Take on Theatre & Item Numbers
Yasir criticized the government’s inconsistent treatment of theatre and dance performances, particularly item songs. He questioned the logic behind sudden raids while these events continue to happen unchecked. Instead, Yasir suggested that the government should tax these performances, allowing them legally rather than treating them as taboo.
Hypocrisy in the System?
He further stated that if Pakistan is truly an Islamic state, then everything un-Islamic should be banned across the board — including talk shows where non-mehrams sit together. His point wasn’t to promote item songs, but to expose what he sees as selective morality and legal confusion.
Yasir Hussain’s item song statement is less about promotion and more about demanding a clear stance. Either allow and regulate, or ban completely — half-measures help no one.
