In an exclusive chat with Social Diary, Pakistan’s music sensation Nimra Mehra opens up about her rise from the breakthrough hit ‘Mahiya Ve’ to the chart-topping ‘Je Pata Hunda.’ Known for blending traditional Pakistani vibes with modern beats, Nimra dives into how the music industry has transformed, sharing her creative journey and the balancing act between staying true to her art and making hits. She also dishes on her latest collab with British-Indian Punjabi star Jaz Dhami for the mesmerizing track ‘Pagal,’ a heartfelt ode to love. With a growing fan base and new horizons ahead, Nimra gives us a peek into what’s next in her ever-evolving musical journey.

SD: You’ve been in the music industry for quite a while now. What do you think has changed the most about your music and the industry during this time?

Nimra: The rise of digital streaming platforms has revolutionized the way music is shared and enjoyed, putting the power of discovery and distribution directly into the hands of artists and fans alike. This shift has not only expanded audiences but also redefined how success is measured in the music industry.

SD: Your recent hit song ‘Je Pata Hunda’ has garnered significant attention. What inspired this track?

Nimra: My recent hit ‘Je Pata Hunda’ is deeply inspired by personal experiences that have shaped my life recently.

SD: Was there a particular moment or song that you feel truly marked your breakthrough in the industry?

Nimra: Yes, ‘Mahiya Ve’ was the turning point that brought me widespread recognition and gave my career a major boost.

SD: Pakistan’s music scene is rich and diverse. How do you see your music fitting into this landscape, and what unique elements do you bring to the table?

Nimra: My music weaves together traditional Pakistani elements with contemporary sounds, creating a distinctive fusion that stands out in the music scene. This blend not only honors the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan but also introduces a modern twist, offering listeners a fresh and innovative perspective on familiar musical traditions.

SD: Many artists struggle with maintaining their artistic vision while appealing to a broad audience. How do you balance creativity with commercial success?

Nimra: I balance this by staying true to my artistic vision while incorporating elements that resonate with a wider audience, ensuring both authenticity and appeal.

SD: Collaboration seems to be a growing trend in the music world. Are there any artists, either within Pakistan or internationally, that you would love to collaborate with?

Nimra : I recently had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with one of my favorite British-Indian Punjabi artists, Jaz Dhami. I’ve always admired his work, especially tracks like “High Heels,” “Zulfa,” and “Beparwaiyan.” Working with him was a fantastic experience, and I’m thrilled to share that our collaboration, “Pagal,” is now out on Beyond Records. The track is currently trending on both YouTube and TikTok.

SD: Looking back over the past 5 years, what has been your biggest challenge, and how did you overcome it?

Nimra: The biggest challenge has been adapting to the rapid changes in the music industry. I overcame it by staying flexible and continuously evolving my approach.

SD: How do you stay motivated and inspired, especially after being in the industry for so long?

Nimra: I stay motivated by diving into new genres, keeping up with emerging trends, and finding inspiration in my personal experiences.

SD: Your fan base has grown significantly recently. How important is your relationship with your fans, and how do you engage with them?

Nimra: My relationship with my fans is incredibly important to me. I actively engage with them through social media platforms, where I share updates and interact directly. I also connect with them during live performances, creating memorable experiences. Additionally, I make it a point to engage in personal interactions whenever possible, ensuring that each fan feels valued and heard. This ongoing connection helps me stay grounded and inspires me to continue creating music that resonates with them.

SD: What can your fans expect from you in the coming years? Are there any upcoming projects or new directions you’re excited about?

Nimra: Fans can look forward to new music, including explorations of different genres and exciting collaborations. In the meantime, enjoy my latest track, ‘Pagal,’ which is trending on YouTube and TikTok and available on all digital platforms.
