Being a digital creator is probably one of the most popular fields you can take on right now. But what’s interesting is how one person is able to bring on something entirely different from another in the best way. It is a choice that requires sheer talent and dedication to bring on the magic. Which many don’t even get. Popular digital personality Fariha Asghar shares her journey with Social Diary towards gaining stardom as well as the good and the bad that came along the way. Read On:
SD: Share a little with us about what it was like growing up in your childhood home.
Fariha: Ah, the good old days! I miss my childhood home. The old times when there was no internet. Everything seemed so easy and stress-free. On weekends we would wake up at 9 am for my favorite cartoons, and then we would have breakfast with my grandparents and parents. The best days of my life-can’t describe those days in words.
SD: How did you venture into the field of becoming a digital creator?
Fariha: I started my journey in 2015 when I started posting pictures and videos. It was considered taboo and personally, I had no idea about digital marketing at all. I used to design my own clothes and post pictures in them. After which people started liking my style and clothes, which gave me a boost and I started doing campaigns for big and small brands.
SD: Were there any major skills you had to grasp to make your mark on this platform?
Fariha: Yes, styling clothes in a unique way.
SD: What kind of content do you create for your videos?
Fariha: Mostly it’s related to lifestyle.
SD: How do the ideas come to you? Does your husband also join you in your videos-how interesting is it to work alongside him?
Fariha: Haha, I love making videos with him but he is camera shy so sometimes it’s hard to do it.
SD: How do you balance your work and home responsibilities?
Fariha: My husband is my support system so he always helps me out.
SD: Would you ever consider venturing into acting?
Fariha: Um, no.
SD: Do you think there is healthy competition in the digital field?
Fariha: Sometimes it’s healthy but sometimes it brings you down. Because people in our field are quite competitive and all they think about is good reach and engagement. If you’re in the limelight, everyone is your friend.
SD: What is the one thing you wish to change about the perception of women in Pakistan becoming an influencer/digital creator?
Fariha: It’s 2023 and people still think we’re models! They don’t know the difference between a digital content creator and a model. If a man is doing this then it’s totally fine, but if a woman is doing this, they will judge us.
SD: How do you plan to venture into 2023?
Fariha: I don’t plan. I just go with the flow
