In a bold move, PPP workers announce hunger strike to protest what they call clear favoritism at a recent Eid Milan party at the Presidency. Long-time party members say they were ignored, while close friends and associates of top leaders got special invites. Several PPP-affiliated groups are now speaking out together.
Protest Camps Set Up at Key Locations
Leaders from the Peoples Students Federation, Labour Bureau, Trader Cell, and Women’s Wing have set up hunger strike camps. These camps are now active outside the Presidency, Governor House, and at Benazir Bhutto’s martyrdom site. A major protest will also take place at the martyrdom site soon.
Workers Slam “Selfie Mafia”
At a meeting in Rawalpindi, chaired by PPP leader Banaras Chaudhry, many members voiced their anger. They said Aamir Paracha, former MD of Baitul Mal, brought personal friends and employees to the Eid event. True party workers weren’t even told about it. Speakers blamed what they call a “selfie mafia” for taking over key events meant for real activists.
Demand for Direct Access to Leaders
Some PPP workers say they’ve given 30 to 50 years to the party. They want President Asif Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, and Asifa Bhutto to hold open courts in Islamabad two or three times a week. These sessions would let grassroots workers share their concerns directly. They believe a few insiders give false updates to the leadership.
Time to Rebuild Trust
As PPP workers announce hunger strike, their demand is simple—respect, fairness, and a voice. They want the leadership to reconnect with those who stood by the party in hard times. Now, they ask: Will the top leaders finally listen?
