SD: How do you approach showcasing the diverse cultures, landscapes, and attractions of Pakistan to both local and international audiences through your content?
Nisma: I believe our culture holds immense richness, yet much of it remains undiscovered by the global eye! The onset of Covid, despite its challenges, turned out to be a blessing in disguise for us Pakistanis. It encouraged us to explore our own breathtaking destinations. Additionally, having a public platform allowed me to share the unexpected, yet utterly pleasant experiences I encountered. Being naturally vocal and expressive, I always strive to showcase the best of our culture and attractions to my audience.
SD: In what ways do you believe digital platforms and television complement each other?
Nisma: I truly feel the future is digital! Having a digital platform is a game-changer for expanding the reach of television content to a broader audience. In my case, my TV show ‘Meet the CEO,’ has been instrumental in generating word-of-mouth buzz. Moreover, digital platforms play a crucial role in boosting viewership for television content overall, making it not only more accessible but also increasingly relevant in today’s media landscape.
SD: What challenges have you faced in promoting Pakistan’s tourism industry, and how do you overcome them through your content creation and hosting endeavors?
Nisma: My television show is all about promoting the actual picture of Pakistan which is much more positive contrary to the global perception. The purpose of my show is to inspire the youth and showcase to the world the incredible talent of successful entrepreneurs and businessmen in our country. We aim to demonstrate that we possess immense talent and innovation, equal to any in the world. Through our program, we seek to empower and motivate young individuals by highlighting the achievements and stories of these remarkable individuals, proving that success knows no bounds.
SD: What advice would you give to aspiring digital creators?
Nisma: My advice to aspiring content creators would be to crack your niche and stay consistent! If you are unique you will surely be noticed in a big big pool of content creators!
SD: Can you share some of your favorite makeup techniques or trends that you enjoy incorporating into your work?
Nisma: I always love trying new foundation blending techniques as I feel more than anything it’s the foundation and the structure of your face that you construct in makeup hence contouring is also one of my favourite things to play around in makeup! So a flawless finish on the skin and lots of chisel!
SD: How do you approach creating a makeup look for different occasions or settings, such as weddings, fashion shoots, or editorial work?
Nisma: I believe that makeup serves as a means of expressing one’s mood and emotions, whether it be on a particular day, with a specific outfit, or during a particular phase of life. I don’t adhere to strict makeup rules based on occasions. Instead, my makeup choices are guided by how I’m feeling and how I want to present myself on any given day. There are moments when even with a formal attire, I opt for a minimal makeup look. Ultimately, makeup preferences are highly subjective and vary from person to person.
SD: In your experience, what are some common misconceptions people have about makeup application or the role of a makeup artist?
Nisma: The biggest misconception is that makeup will work like Photoshop and will vanish all the texture of your skin! Glass skin is the biggest scam and I feel some makeup artists are to blame who use a lot of Photoshop and tons of filters on their shoots and content setting unrealistic expectations for the clients
SD: Looking at the digital industry, do you feel there’s too much competition or/and this platform is becoming saturated with the same ideas/content?
Nisma: Competition no, saturation yes! I feel there can still be a lot more competition if people come up with content ideas people have never seen before! Everyone is trying to do the same things hence saturation is ruling right now!
SD: Would you ever consider venturing into the world of acting?
Nisma: I cannot act to save my life!! I love content creation and of course hosting!
SD: As someone making a mark in the educational field too, what among your varying work titles reflects strongly on your persona?
Nisma: I genuinely find immense joy in both teaching and hosting! Teaching becomes incredibly fulfilling when the goal is to impart valuable knowledge to others, while hosting events gives me a unique sense of excitement. In all honesty, I also have a deep passion for content creation. It’s a tough decision to choose between them, as each activity contributes to shaping my personality in its own way.
