Social Diary, this rising star gets candid on how he got into modeling, choosing projects, whether movies are a possibility and his vision for a progressive Pakistan. Read On:
SD: What remains the best thing about modeling?
Shahzad: I would have to say the ability to earn my living is what makes modeling such a wonderful field. Not many realize that this isn’t just a hobby. It’s a passion which is also a profession and both things come together which allow us to see the results flourish completely.
SD: How did you venture into this field?
Shahzad: Not a lot of people know this but I got into this field by accident. However it was something I was destined to do for I was able to naturally get into the process and felt satisfaction every step of the way. There has been no looking back since then.
SD: When it comes to choosing campaigns, what matters the most when making a decision?
Shahzad: Choosing campaigns requires a lot of thinking. For me what matters the most is the team we create as well as the kind of brand I will be working with. All these elements come together which translates to a successful campaign .
SD: Were there any setbacks you had to face when joining the field?
Shahzad: I would have to say there weren’t any major issues that I had to come across. It was more or less smooth sailing. But of course you need to work hard and keep your focus. If you are committed, certain setbacks don’t hinder your vision to attain success.
SD: How was your family’s response to your first campaign?
Shahzad: I was naturally nervous. I had no idea how my family would react. But the support rendered towards me was all I needed to keep on moving forward and perfecting my craft.
SD: Why do you feel we haven’t been able to make an international mark of excellence when it comes to modeling?
Shahzad: The thing is we have a very small industry. And that means there isn’t much space to progress. So comparing our industry with others isn’t really fair. There are limited work opportunities so we have to work hard to get to the point of being at par with leading entertainment industries of the world.
SD: How do you think this field is progressing through time?
Shahzad: Well there is definite improvement as we can see major talent emerging. That just shows that we are breaking barriers with new faces that are bringing an edge with their work. It really comes down to supporting the talent in the industry and appreciating new artists and their ideas.
SD: Would you consider getting into acting anytime soon?
Shahzad: That actually depends on the kind of offer I get. I would really like to get into something new and not look into cliche roles. We have enough of those and need some major change now.
SD: How is 2022 treating you so far?
Shahzad: So far, it has been going really great. For me it is important that we commit to giving our 100% to whatever we do. And that is why I am grateful for all the good things that have been happening in my life. Also I know the importance of being patient and realizing how certain things are not in our hands and sometimes we just need to go with the flow.
SD: Your words of advice to those who wish to venture into modeling?
Shahzad: People just assume it’s all glitz and glamour but the fact is there is a lot of hard work that goes into it. When you commit to something, you cannot expect to see results right away and you cannot back out as well suddenly. There is a lot that goes into the process. So make sure you are committing yourself and are not going to get affected by certain rough patches and bumps that you find in the way. Shine your light and protect your talent- let the criticism make you motivated even more to prove your worth.
