Known for his impeccable vocal belting technique, Ahmed Ali has a voice that mesmerizes as he creates incredible music in genres of romance, pop, rock, classical, and alternative. For someone who was incredibly shy in his earlier days to having bought his very own guitar from his pocket money, Ahmed has come a long way and with a persistent vision to continue to croon and bring forth incredible songs that his audience can relate to, there is no slowing down this rising star!
SD: When was the first instance you felt you wanted to become a singer?
Ahmed: The first instance I felt I had some depth in my voice was in 2009. I made my singing debut in 2012.
SD: Did you always have a welcoming environment at home to pursue your craft?
Ahmed: To be very honest I didn’t have my family’s support and encouragement to have taken on my singing career. However, my mother has always been encouraging and gave me the nudge to pursue my dreams.
SD: Did you ever take on any professional training when trying to find your voice?
Ahmed: Yes. I got professional training from Ustaad Rafi Khan Sahab and then further from Sarmad Ghafoor & Nadir Abbas. I took various advice from them and learned a lot from their experiences that I have implemented in my life.
SD: What were the major setbacks you had to face in the process?
Ahmed: I have to sometimes face budget issues. The costs incurred in the production of songs and sounds can be quite a lot, however, I don’t compromise on the quality of my work.
SD: How did your association and collaboration with Sarmad Ghafoor come about?
Ahmed: Sarmad Ghafoor is Pakistan’s top music producer; he is brilliant and I’ve learned so much while working with him. It was probably the best decision I had ever made. He was also impressed with my singing skills and that is what allowed me to create a strong persona.
SD: What remains the most special and memorable aspect of bringing ‘Paas Aao’ to the audience?
Ahmed: ‘Pass Ao’ is my first song ever and it stirs an emotional connection between me and my audience. This exchange of energy that I feel and share with my listeners is what drives me forward. It is what matters the most and can be counted as the special aspect of bringing a song to life. When I got good responses from my audience as well as listeners from India as well, that is what encouraged me to continue creating what I had stepped into.
SD: Among all the kinds of music you create, what remains your favorite genre and why?
Ahmed: If you notice, you will sense a hint of beauty and romanticism in all my songs. However, my favorite genre has to be rock and pop. Being a playback singer, I get to create many styles and pitches to work with when bringing my voice to the forefront.
SD: What projects are you currently working on right now?
Ahmed: Currently I have been working on 2 of my tracks that I am super excited for my audience to hear. One is ‘ Teri Yadain’ and the other one is untitled. Teri Yadain is now available and the second one will be released after a month.
SD: Would you ever consider venturing into the acting industry anytime soon?
Ahmed: The industry has offered me a lot of projects but it doesn’t seem of my caliber to work on. If I get a chance to work on something with substance, I will definitely commit to it wholeheartedly.
SD: How do you aspire to shape up 2024?
Ahmed: I would definitely compose music and continue to adapt to the evolving music industry as it is my passion. Bringing good music to my audience is what I aim and strive for.
