Model Quratulain Azaad exudes talent and confidence, making her mark in the modeling industry. In an exclusive interview with Social Diary, she shares the challenges and dedication required to become a model in Pakistan. Discover her insights and the reality behind the glamour. Read on.
SD: When did you first feel you wanted to become a model?
Quratulain: I never really considered modeling until after I graduated from college. When the job market was tough due to COVID, a friend suggested I give modeling a shot because they thought I had potential. Taking a leap of faith, I applied and landed my first shoot in Lahore, and that’s how my modeling journey began.
SD: What were the major setbacks you faced while pursuing this field?
Quratulain: One of the major setbacks for me was dealing with favoritism. I’ve always stayed true to myself and haven’t engaged in playing games or forming fake relationships for work opportunities. This approach has made my journey slower, but I’m genuinely happy with where I am today.
SD: How smooth of a journey has it been in making your mark?
Quratulain: My modeling journey has had its share of challenges, but it’s also been a time of growth for me. Modeling tests my resilience and requires me to stay composed and focused to make my mark in the industry.
SD: Do you feel favoritism limits the kind of work a newcomer gets?
Quratulain: In the modeling world, playing favorites can stop new models from getting good chances. It means some models are liked more, so new ones might not get the same opportunities. Making things fair based on talent is super important in this career too.
SD: What has been your most memorable campaign to date?
Quratulain: It was when I had the opportunity to work with Khaadi. It was a personal milestone for me as I have always admired the brand.
SD: Is it true that you can’t have true friends from the industry?
Quratulain: In modeling, it’s hard to find real friends because everyone is focused on competing. Some are nice and want you to succeed, but true friendships are rare due to the intense competition in the industry.
SD: Your fashion statement?
Quratulain: My personal fashion statement is all about being comfortable yet stylish. I like to mix and match different pieces to create a unique look that reflects my personality. I believe that fashion is a way to express myself and feel confident.
SD: What is your self-care mantra?
Quratulain: My mantra revolves around setting aside quiet time for myself at the end of each day. During this period, I reflect on my actions and focus on self-improvement. Rather than comparing myself to others, I concentrate on how I can enhance my own abilities. My primary goal is self-improvement, and I am committed to becoming the best version of myself.
SD: A fashion accessory that is timeless?
Quratulain: Honestly, I’m not into wearing accessories. Style is really about what feels right for each person. It’s cool to go with what makes me feel comfortable and confident, whether that involves accessories or not!
SD: Would you ever venture into the acting industry?
Quratulain: Acting has always been my passion. Before I started modeling, I used to make acting videos. If I ever get the opportunity, I would be thrilled to pursue acting because I feel a deeper connection to it than to modeling.
SD: How do you deal with trolls and the negativity of social media?
Quratulain: Honestly, I don’t receive much hate. And if I get any, I always try to view it positively because I think people who spread hate on social media are likely dealing with challenges in their lives that leads them to express their frustrations in that manner.
