Tasmiah Khan is diving headfirst into the digital world, carving out her own niche with a clear vision to make a difference. Her content is dynamic, keeping her audience captivated with its freshness and a delightful desi flair. In an interview with Social Diary Magazine, she delved into her approach for keeping her followers engaged and explored the profound impact of social media on modern society.
SD: What inspired you to start creating lifestyle content, and how did you begin your journey as a digital creator?
Tasmiah: I actually never planned this. Taking pictures and posting random stuff to social media has always been my coping mechanism, maybe to compensate for how much of an introvert I am in real life. People actually started to enjoy my content and interact with it; then brands started reaching out to me. It all happened very unexpectedly.
SD: Could you describe your creative process when conceptualizing and producing lifestyle posts for your audience?
Tasmiah: Much hinges on the narrative a brand wishes to impart and the vision it upholds. My role involves crafting content that resonates with my audience, sparking engagement, all the while ensuring the brand’s core message remains unaltered.
SD: How do you incorporate Pakistani culture and traditions into your lifestyle content, and why is it important to you?
Tasmiah: I always try my best to add a desi element to my content, in the form of clothes, language, music or something else. It’s important to me because I’m proud of my culture and I love to embrace it
SD: What challenges have you faced as a digital creator in Pakistan, particularly in the realm of lifestyle content creation?
Tasmiah: Cyberbullying remains a significant concern, with excessive negativity prevalent online. Initially, it affected me profoundly as I entered the workforce, but unfortunately, I’ve had to learn to overlook it. Secondly, the realm of brands can be challenging. Some exhibit unprofessional behavior by delaying or even withholding payments. Additionally, creativity often takes a back seat as many brands enforce strict guidelines, limiting innovation and individuality.
SD: Can you share any memorable experiences or interactions with your audience that have impacted your content creation journey?
Tasmiah: Whenever people come up to me, telling me they watch all my videos or love my content, it makes me very happy, particularly girls.
SD: How do you stay authentic and relatable to your audience while also maintaining your unique style as a digital creator?
Tasmiah: I just make sure not to pretend to be something I’m not, or to promote an unattainable, fake lifestyle that doesn’t exist. Being authentic is actually a lot easier than faking it, you just have to be in your skin
SD: What role do you believe social media platforms play in shaping lifestyle trends, both globally and within Pakistan?
Tasmiah: Social media has become an integral part of our lives, shaping the present and undoubtedly influencing the future. In today’s world, it seems that our interactions with social media platforms surpass those with individuals or even physical surroundings. The pervasive nature of social media means that we are constantly consuming content, regardless of our location or time of day. This reality speaks volumes about the profound impact of social media on modern society
SD: In what ways do you collaborate with other creators or brands to enhance your lifestyle content, and how do you choose who to collaborate with?
Tasmiah: The only other creator I collaborate with is my best friend, Zainab Chaudhary, our chemistry and comfort level has no match. When it comes to brands, when they reach out to me, I carefully study the campaign idea and only go through with it if it resonates with me and my niche.
SD: How do you navigate the balance between sponsored content and maintaining your own voice and integrity as a digital creator?
Tasmiah: That might get a bit challenging at times, but of course, I can’t bore my audience with sponsored content all the time, so I just try my best to create personal or relatable content for my people whenever I have the time.
SD: Looking ahead, what are your aspirations and goals for the future of your digital content creation career, particularly within the lifestyle niche?
Tasmiah: The market and scope of content creation has grown immensely globally, the creativity out there is immense. I’m putting in a lot of hard work and I just really hope I can grow and improve to catch up with time.
